Inaugural speech

Mr. chairman, Distinguished branch chairlady, honorable guest speaker, invited guest, members of the other chapters present, members of NPP-USA Tallahassee, ladies, and gentlemen.

Each time we gather as NPP members to perform a democratic exercise, we bear witness to the everlasting strength of our party. We affirm the promise of our democracy.  We recall that the unity and bound that formed Danquah, Dombo and Busia Tradition was not just the party colors. What makes us exceptional, what makes us the beacon of democracy in Africa is our allegiance to the principles and tenets of development in freedom.

My fellow patriots, the oath of office my colleagues and I have sworn before you today, was an oath to God and country, not only party.  And we must faithfully execute that pledge during the duration of our service.  But the words I spoke today are not so different from the oath that is taken each time a soldier signs up for duty.  My oath is not so different from the pledge we all make to the NPP flag that waves above and that fills our hearts with pride.

Today, it is a great privilege for me and my colleague executives to lead a chapter of our great branch. When we started the formation of this chapter in 2018, it was very tough and challenging to us. But we have always understood that when times change, so must we; that fidelity to our founding principles requires new responses to new challenges; that preserving the principles of our great party NPP and creating a new chapter will ultimately requires collective action.

Ladies and Gentlemen, our resolve for the theme for today’s program was “ STRATEGIZING TO BREAK THE 8 IN 2024” We choose this theme because , we are of a strong believe that, our party risk going into opposition for over a decade if we don’t get involved a making the right call for the right and deserving person to lead us into the 2024 elections. The sad and painful memories of the events that took place in Ghana after 2008 elections are still fresh in our memories. The elsewhere president Kufour brought our country out of HIPIC in 2002 and by the time he left power, we were a middle income country with a very promising future. But because we did not manage our internal primaries well as a party, we lost the 2008 elections. Yes we lost because we went into that election with a divided front.

Mr chairman, in order to avoid these painful memories, we need to collectively add our voices to the calls that our party must take a great lessons from 2008 and make sure that victory becomes ours in 2024 elections. We need to present a very formidable candidate who can shake the foundation of our opponents with humility, intelligence and pro-poor polices.

Mr chairman, Our struggles towards creating this chapter could not have come to fruition without the endless contribution of our indefatigable chairlady ( Obaa Yaa Frimpong ), her patience, time, and wisdom in guiding us from the beginning to this date was incredible and cannot be quantified. No wonder she is nicknamed the Yaa-Asante Waa of our time within the ranks of our party. On behalf of my colleague executives, I say THANK YOU
Another Party stalwart that is worthy of our appreciation is Hon Hannan, very affable, dynamic and very resourceful to our party from constituency levels in Ghana to national level. No wonder he is arguably the best performing CEO in this government. He supported us in so many ways to get to this point of the chapter. We salute you HON.

Mr chairman, I wish to assure the Branch executives, national executives and the entire membership that, we will never let our guard down in performing our duties as executives. We will make this chapter the most active and vibrant chapter among the chapters in the diaspora.

Mr chairman, I wish to sincerely thank chairman Samba, some call him chairman talk and do, some call him chair aircondition, some call him chairman of all regional chairmen. I wish to thank him for making time to be with us. I wish to also thank Mr. Salam Mustapha and all our invted guest for coming. Thank you
